Fall Fun

Blake and I had a wonderful evening tonight
checking things off of our Fall Bucket List!

We headed out to Atl' Do Farms
which is about 15 minutes outside of Lubbock
for some fall fun.

They had tons of things that we enjoyed.
We were the only people there without children, ha!
But that's okay.
It will be soon enough
where we will be chasing kids around
and doing everything that they want to do,
so we are enjoying fun things that we want to do
while we can actually enjoy them!

They had a few farm animals
that were the most people friendly animals
I've ever been around.

The pigs couldn't get enough of BEG....
everytime he'd stop petting him he would oink like crazy
and head butt the fence, ha!

Cute little goat

And sheep

And this cow was crazy....
Wouldn't stop mooing, started peeing while being pet
and would chew on the fence when you stopped petting her!

They had a hayride that took us out to a
pumpkin patch.

Ready for our hayride!

Pumpkin Patch....
They planted 30,000 pumpkins in September
and there were fields and fields of pumpkins

You could pick your own pumpkin for $1
so we were sure to pick the perfect one!

Pulling it off the vine

Cleaning it up

Our cute little handpicked
pumpkin!

Then for another $1
we decided to try the Corn Cannon;
hysterical.

This thing was extremely loud
and shot the corn way further than one would think.

We got 3 shots.
I hit the Free Drink sign 2 x's
but somehow never got my free drink,
boo.

We then headed over to the Corn Maize
which was fantastic.

This year's maize was
none other than Lubbock's own
Buddy Holly.

Each year the maize is different
but somehow related to Lubbock or Tech.

We were a bit confused on which way to go
so we stopped to enjoy the sunset!

Woo Hoo,
we found our way out!
(and good thing b/c it was starting to get cold
and I forgot my jacket at home and had to borrow Blake's)

I hope y'all are enjoying the cooler fall weather as much as we are!

It snowed here on Thursday
which was a nice reminder how cold it gets here so
we definitely are trying to cram in as much outside time as we can
before we are stuck indoors all winter.

BEG is headed to Denver tomorrow morning for a SPE conference.
It is low of 20's high of 50's there
and he can have it!
I am not ready for winter just yet....

Hope everyone has a nice, relaxing weekend.

Haboob 2011

On Monday,
Lubbock expereinced it's first Haboob
since 1935!!
(and I am so lucky to be living here to witness it!)

Blake had just gotten home from class,
thank goodness considering he rides his bike!!
We were sitting in the "office" chatting about our day
when everything went dark
(it was only 5:30 and bright and sunny 10 seconds earlier).
We got up to investigate
and was greeted by this:

I honest to God
thought the world was coming to an end.

I'm not going to be picky and choose the way in which I leave this world
but being swallowed up by dirt was not what I had envisioned!
Prior to moving to Lubbock that is.

This picture was in the midst of the Haboob...
This was a picture from our backdoor.
Everything literally went orange for about 10 minutes!

The Haboob was brought in by 60 mile an hour winds
with gusts up to 71mph!
And was intensified by the fact that it has rained 3.16 inches since January 1!!!!!
You can not even imagine the drought this part of the country is experiencing.

I am heartbroken for the farmers.
It's been all over the local news that the ones
who were lucky enough to even grow cotton this year
lots the majority of it with the Haboob!
So sad.

So if anyone was planning to come and visit me,
spare yourselves.

Hotty Toddy

We literally might not ever win another game
but we sure do have fun!

I met the family over in Oxford for the weekend
for the Alabama-OleMiss game
and boy did we have a good time!

Sweet Blake had to stay in Lubbock and study
as he has another round of test this week and next,
boo!

I wasn't scheduled to go at all this season
so after some last minute juggling
(I sold all of my season tickets)
I booked a flight with some Lubbock friends (and OleMiss alumni),
Hilary and Marc Majors,
to Memphis.

They had already arranged for a ride from the Memphis airport
so I just jumped in.
I had Milly and Gilbo upgrade their hotel room to a King Suite
so I could sleep on the pull out sofa.
I had Milly locate me a football ticket
since I had previously sold all of mine.
And because we all need to see good friends every once in awhile,
I invited Mandy to come and stay with me!!

Since I won't be returning until next year,
we crammed as much in as possible.

A quick trip to Tupelo, a lap around the square complete with lunch at Ajax's,
supper at Old Taylor Grocery, a FULL day in the Grove, too many toddies resulting in a slight college hangover, 2 trips to Abner's and lunch at Proud Larry's.
Whew,
I'm exhausted recapping it all!!
(And grossed out by how much I ate!!)

Oh,
we also took a lap around the newly remodeled Kappa house.
It looks SO different
but is just beautiful.
The updates are so nice;
it's like we lived in concentration camps while there!

And for some reason
we even decided to go to the game.
I atleast got to witness one of the few touchdowns
we have scored in the last couple of seasons!!

It was a fantastic weekend
but I am most definitely paying for it today.

I miss college,
and Oxford,
so so much
but am so glad to be back home with my sweet little family.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Gig Em

This weekend,
Tech played their final Big XII game
against Texas A&M.

Sticking with tradition
the Aggies had a midnight yell practice
Friday night.
Blake and I thought it would be fun to attend,
so we went.
Silly Aggies have the absolute WORST jokes ever
that they share at yell practice

There was only 1 outburst from Tech fans
and they were escorted out by the police
while chanting
"Raider Power".

There was a slight chance of rain on Saturday
so BEG and I were unsure if we were going to tailgate
but it ended up being a beautiful day
and we had a wonderful time.
And we even scored free tickets to the game!!
Beautiful West Texas sunset
I look ill in this picture
but I wanted to document being inside the stadium

Fighten Texas Aggie Band

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend
and our looking forward to Blake's 2 days off
Monday and Tuesday!
(although he will spend them studying)

Fracken Rocks

Some of Blake and his classmates
are on a softball team.

The team mascot, Drill Bit
(aka RHETT)

They are so funny to watch
and let's just say we all need to be thankful
that they will have their petroleum engineering degrees to fall back on!

They lost their first game 0-47
and this last one 1-35.
They are improving
but have a l o n g way to go!

But they have a great time
and really that's all that matters, right?

Happy Fall Y'all

These are my newest edition to my
fall decoration collection.....

and I LOVE them!

I have been wanting some for awhile now
but just hadn't gotten around to finding them.

But thankfully,
King Hardware came through for me
while I was home.

To make the whole transaction even more wonderful,
I bought them
and they showed up on my door step Wednesday afternoon!

I love buying cute stuff
especially when it's so darn easy.

Hope everyone is enjoying the cooler temps
and changing leaves.

I made some pumpkin bread last night
and am looking forward to some college football today.

Isn't fall great??

Shreveport Trip

I headed to Shreveport last weekend for a long overdue trip home.
However,
I quickly learned that I can't leave my boys for long.
Blake got a sick
and spent yesterday at the campus infirmary.
george henry got in a cat fight
and spent the morning at the vet.
Thankfully RHETT was still in 1 piece!

I had a wonderful trip home seeing my friends and family.
Even my sweet nephew, Murphy, came to see me!!
But sadly, I only took 2 pictures all weekend =(
Apparantly,
I was too busy for pictures
but I sure wish I had some now!

Sweet Nonna

I crammed a lot of stuff into 3 short days
but when you live 10 hours away,
you've got to make the most of your time when you're there.

I ate at some of my favorite places,
including the Revel.
Visited some favorite local stores.
And caught up with lots of friends.

(Me, Claire and Cole Rice)

It was a great trip!!
