Furry Friends

RHETT and George are really starting to get along and they are so cute together. RHETT brings his toys over to George to play with him. Obviously, due to their significant size difference (90lbs. vs. 2.5 lbs) there isn't much tugging on the rope but rather pawing of RHETT'S face but RHETT is such a good brother, he doesn't mind.

Playing tug of war with a mediator (BEG). RHETT doesn't quite understand how small George is so we have to mediate their playing so no one accidentally gets hurt!

Brotherly love!!
Happy Wednesday!

Sprung a Leak

Well we had our first trial run with the new covered patio yesterday and we sprung a leak, opps! It started pouring down rain during lunch and BEG and I happened to be at home so we went to the window to see if any rain would get through and if so where. It got through by the backdoor (where we need flashing) and where he connected it to the roof (where it needs flashing also)Leonard, the handy man, is coming soon to flash it so hopefully no water will get through next time. A little wet or not, it was so nice to have somewhere dry to watch it rain (and I think RHETT and Chloe appreciated being dry when it rains for once!)

We finally have shade

Blake (and RHETT) worked Saturday afternoon on the deck and he finished it, YAY!!! The electrician was supposed to come Friday and wire for the fan and speakers but of course called Friday after lunch and said that he "had an emergency" and would be here first thing Monday morning. Too bad BEG can't wire the electricity also. But the part that he did do is FABULOUS and we can not wait for it to get a bit cooler so we can actually enjoy it. The rocking chairs have new cushions and are ready to hit the new porch! Here are some photos of BEG's project:

Have a good week!

Work, Work all Weekend Long

We spent this last weekend working on the house yet again! We are having a lot of fun doing odd and end jobs finally making our house "a home"!

BEG was planning on spending Saturday working on the deck cover but it of course started pouring down rain right as he started so he spent the afternoon indoors with RHETT and George. Speaking of our furry children, George went to the vet for the first time last Thursday to ensure that he is in fact a George, thankfully he is all male! He currently weighs 2.5 lbs and is a bundle of energy. He is filling out quite nicely thanks to his nightly cup of whole milk; he loves it! He and RHETT are continuing to "sniff each other out" but all in all are getting along very well. RHETT continues to do nothing all day but sleep and seems content at doing just that!

I spent Saturday hanging out with one of my best friends from home, Virginia and her sweet new baby girl, Cass. They were intown for the week visiting from Austin. I then ran by a wedding shower for Catherine Pressly, who is getting married Labor Day weekend in San Antonio. And BEG and I finished our Saturday getting down with "The PowerHouse" from Mobile, AL for Leah Johnston's wedding. We had so much fun dancing to the fabulous band (yes, you read that right, Blake actually danced!!) I gave him such a hard time that he danced with me more Saturday night then he did at our own wedding but the band was THAT good, they could have made anybody dance!

BEG worked on the deck all day Sunday with RHETT and I giving him moral support (RHETT from his spot in the shade and me from the hammock reading a book!) It looks VERY professional and I am so pround of him. The electrician is supposedly coming on Friday to wire a fan and speakers and then Blake will install the metal this weekend and (drumroll please) ........................we will finally have a covered deck!!!!! Well almost, BEG is picking up the metal on Friday to actually cover it but that he says, "is the easy part!"

We are still trying to get our new "den" in order. I bought some storage closets to put in the attic so I can move my winter clothes out of the closet in the now den and we can use the storage space for all of our wedding china and plates that are on their way! We bought a cute little desk last night that is small but all that we need so we have a place to handle the finances and I bought a new organizer and files for the filing cabinet! We are getting there, slowly but surely and it sure is fun!!

Happy Tuesday!

Painting with a Twist

Phil, his girlfriend Sloan, Patrick, Lauren and I ventured out to Painting with a Twist last night and had the best time!! We realized that there is not a Picasso among our group but we still had fun. I didn't realize that you literally start with a blank canvas and do it all on your own (with little direction) but you can purchase toddies while painting so my creative juices started flowing. Here is my masterpiece:

While we were busy finding our inner artistic abilities BEG was at home working on the back patio. He has made some really good progress!!

Happy Wednesday!!

R&R

We spent the weekend attempting to get George and Rhett to like one another! After a few hisses and swats, they seem to be able to tolerate one another for the time being. Rhett just wants to get a few good "sniffs" of George and George isn't having it. George has no fear of Rhett at all, which is a little unnerving to Blake and I considering there is a 90lb. weight difference, but all in all they are getting along as best as could be expected!

We spent Saturday lounging around the house watching re-runs of the O.C. while we got some much needed rain. It was fantastic to do nothing!! We took a lllooonnnggg (obviously much needed) nap and then headed to East Ridge Country Club to have supper with Claire and Jeff. BEG continually comments on how my "do nothing weekends" turn into continual errand running and lots of little projects so I spent this weekend proving to him that I can in fact lay around and do nothing. I hope to have many more Saturdays like this in our future!

We woke up Sunday and moved the curtain rods in the bedroom higher (I got new drapes for the living room and moved the old ones into our bedroom but they were extremely too long for our room). We have been talking about doing this for a month and finally did it!! They look so much better now that they are not bunched up on the floor. We finished up just in time for the 11:00 service at church and then decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and headed out to Southern Trace pool for the afternoon. We then, of course, met my parents for our usual Sunday night supper at Superior which as always was delicious!

I hope your weekend was as wonderful as ours! Happy Monday.

Remodel Update

They have officially finished the arch!!! Well, atleast the construction for it is finished.

We are now waiting on the electrician and the painter, which after speaking with them both this afternoon, could be awhile. But atleast the dust, drop clothes, noise, 7am arrivals, and complete turmoil in the kitchen is OVER!! It looks fantastic and I can not wait to get all the final touches completed.

Fourth of July Weekend

We had a great Fourth of July weekend. Blake and I headed to our lakehouse Friday after work to meet my grandmother, aunt, sister and brother in law, parents and Blake's parents and sister for the weekend. We had a lot of fun relaxing, eating, boating and just catching up with one another.

Rhett had sooo much fun playing with his cousins (Lady Rebel and Haven, Rebecca and Tom's dogs, and Cotton and Rebel, mom and dad's dogs), riding in the boat (seriously, the boat didn't go out one time without Rhett in it) and helping his Great Aunt M fry fish! Between helping the workmen on the archway every morning last week and the weekend at the camp, he has never been so exhausted! He is at the "Doggy Spa" as I type this getting some R&R and a much needed bath.

We came back in Saturday night and Blake, with is dad's help, got the posts up for the back deck cover on Sunday, so we are making progress, slowly but surely!!

We met my family down at the Barnwell Center (where our wedding reception was) for the fireworks Sunday night. They had hamburgers, hot dogs, a band, a B-52 flyover (which I missed due to a potty break!) and fabulous fireworks! It was so much fun. I absolutely love fireworks and after our pitiful display last 4th of July (we were in Mexico with Bennett and believe it or not Mexico does not celebrate America's Independence, who knew?!?!) But seriously they had 3, literally 3, fireworks last year (that they were so proud of) so I was so thrilled to see an actual fireworks show this year and they did not disappoint.

We had a wonderful, much needed, relaxing weekend with family. We haven't all been together since the wedding and that was crazy, fun but crazy, so this past weekend so nice! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend as well.
