Neville Garrettcocks of Lubbock port

In honor of today's royal wedding I thought it would be fun to find out what
Blake and I's royal names are.

You can go here
to find out what your own is; so fun!!

My royal name is:
Marchioness Catherine Tildsley Garrettskitt of Lubbockshire
And for Blake:
Baron Blake Jeeves Garrettton of Lubbock pool
Hahahahaha, so ridiculous but oh so fun.
We definitely didn't get up at 4 am to watch the wedding; the whole world didn't get up to watch us marry so why would we wake up early to watch someone else?!?! Neither of us get star struck if you can't already tell!! However, I did flip GMA on at 8 as I was anxious to see what dress she chose and how she wore her hair. I will say, like it matters, that I was pleased with both. Her dress was simple yet elegant and she wore her hair just as I had hoped she would (she has the most gorgeous hair I have ever seen)!
I've enjoyed watching the snippets from the wedding. I most enjoyed their whispers to each other; ie. William telling her "you look stunning, babe" as she got the the alter and as Cate was stepping into the carriage telling William "I'm so happy". They are so real and so in love; I love it!
I wish them a lifetime of happiness (and privacy)!!!
Hope everyone has a relaxing and wonderful weekend.

What a week (and it's only Wednesday)!

Let's start with this guy....
We are back in Pecos this week finishing up somethings before we get to spend some much needed time in Lubbock for the month of May. To say that we are excited to sleep in our own bed for more than 3 nights a week would be an understatement! We found out last minute that we would be coming this week and there were no longer any pet friendly rooms available so we left the furry children at home. We didn't think it would be much of an issue since we had put the dog door in so RHETT and george can come and go from the house to the yard as needed and the neighbors were going to watch/feed them.
Well, RHETT decided that he wasn't going to be left at home alone (george was there but he mainly sleeps all day long so he is NO fun)! The neighbor called me about an hour after we left and said that she had spotted RHETT at the park playing, ha! So she called him over and wasn't sure what to do with him as he had eaten a hole in the wood fence, nice! Did I mention that the neighbor watching him is also our landlord, lovely! We decided to put him in the house and close the dog door (this entails sliding the metal door through the brackets and clasping it shut). Well, when she and her son went to check on him after school (4 or 5 hours later) he was no where to be found, the dog door had been removed and the bricks she placed in front of the hole in the fence had been removed as well. I told her not to fear this isn't the first time he has pulled out his magician moves and that he hadn't (hopefully) gone far. I mentioned that he was probably on the front porch people watching (he is his mother's son) and lo and behold there he was, happy as a clam sitting in the shade on the front porch.
At this point, we were at a lose for what to do with him considering he managed to move everything in order to plot his next escape. To make a long story short, I got a phone call from a few people in our neighborhood Monday, after the above, who "had my dog"! I called the neighbor and she and the kids had tied him to the lanyard in the front yard (like I told them to) and went to supper. Well in the hour they were gone he had escaped again! Thankfully a guy we met when we first moved found him as he was leaving for a run, called me (he didn't know it was me or my dog until he called and we put 2 and 2 together) decided to take him for a run with him (such a nice guy) until the neighbor returned from supper. We decided to have RHETT sleep inside the neighbors house so that he couldn't escape again and that we would come up with Plan B by the morning. I assured her that as long as he was around people he wouldn't dare go anywhere! And he didn't, the second he walked inside he hit the floor and slept like a log until they woke up for school.
Much to his dismay, I am sure, Hodini was taken to the boarder first thing Tuesday morning and will stay there until we get back Friday afternoon.
Who needs children?!?!?! I am still exhausted from all of this!!

We decided to venture out to The West of The Pecos Museum today.
We've been talking about it over the last few months since we've been out here and today we decided to finally go. It was pretty neat. They have a sign in that they have people sign when they visit and I must say I was most impressed by where the people come from that visit Pecos!! I never even knew this place existed until we came here for work, ha!
I know that most of my readers do not live in West Texas and the majority of you are drowning right now from all of the rain. Well, things could NOT be more different out here right now. Blake and I moved out here 2 days after Christmas and I have not seen a drop of rain since we left Shreveport! It is AWFUL how dry it is out here and everything, literally, EVERYTHING is on fire! Below is an actual fire that is burning as I type this about 30 miles from where we are currently in Pecos. It is heartbreaking what is happening out here.
Please keep all of these people in your prayers and PLEASE pray for rain and NO wind!!!
Above is the Fort Davis fire
If you are familiar with the area, that is the McDonald Observatory on the right
Hope everyone is having a good week!!

How Great Thou Art

This is absolutely worth watching! The Lord blessed her so richly and it is wonderful to see her using that talent to glorify Him!

Enjoy!

Easter Weekend

We have had the MOST WONDERFUL weekend! It was beautiful out here in West Texas and we savored every minute of it!
We have done nothing blog worthy but I will document it just because we have loved it that much!

We decided on Friday afternoon we would head down to Ransom Canyon, Texas. It's about 20 mins from Lubbock and supposedly has beautiful houses on a lake in a canyon. So we loaded up RHETT and off we went to "house hunt" or to be nosy....whatever you would like to call it. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We only saw 1 pretty house and could not figure out how to get to it, bummer.

Here are a couple of houses that we did see.

This one reminded me of the Jetson's, ha!
This was a view from the top of the canyon. It is pretty for out here, I suppose.
After we drove around for awhile Blake wanted to head in to Slaton, another near by town, to see the man he used to work for when he was a freshman at Tech. Mr. Davis was at his office and they both really enjoyed getting to visit with eachother after so many years. So, the day wasn't a complete bust afterall!

On Saturday we did lots of lounging and it was fantastic!
Here are the furry children hanging out in the backyard.
I swear george henry has NO idea he is a cat!!
We went and played tennis, went for a run, went to the 5:00 church service at the church we attend regularly and then came home and grilled hamburgers. We had the best time hanging out as a little family and only wish we could figure out a way to bring george henry along! The most fabulous part of the day was we were in bed watching tivoed shows by 8:30!!!!!
This Easter we decided to spend sometime by ourselves. We have been on the road so much for work over the last couple of months, we just had no desire to be in the car this weekend as well. We have had the most wonderful weekend. We miss our families dearly but do not regret our decision at all to stay home this Easter.

We really enjoy the church we have found since moving to Lubbock but it is so far from traditional. The preacher is young, relatable and really stirs the heart. But with it being Easter we knew that we wanted to go to a traditional church as well. Last weekend we ventured down to the neighborhood Presbyterian church, Westminister, for Palm Sunday and this weekend for Easter we went to First United Methodist. The church is magnificant and the choir and horns were magical!

This is the best picture we could capture of ourselves to document this Easter.

We have a reservation for 2:00 at the Overton Restaurant. Blake heard they have a delicious brunch so we decided yesterday that we would try it out, ha! Nothing like waiting until the last minute but that's the beauty of it just being the 2 of us!! We will try to get someone to get a better picture of us where you can see my sweet husbands outfit (white linen suit, Lilly tie and white bucks!)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Hot Flash

Evidently, george is going thru male menopause.
He gets "hot flashes" and insist on getting in the fridge until he cools off, ha!

He literally sits at the fridge door pawwing at it and meowing until we let him in.
We then close the door until we hear him doing the same thing to let him out!

Happy Easter Weekend!!

Putting Around

We get a little bored living in a hotel during the week
(yes, we are back living in a hotel but that's a story for a whole other post)
so we have to get creative with fun things to do so we don't lose our minds.

Blake has class on Monday and Wednesday nights
and there is GREAT tv on on Thursdays (Private Practice)
so that really only leaves Tuesday nights for our entertainment.

This week we wanted to do something outdoors
as to enjoy the beautiful weather.
We were planning on going to the Roundhounds
(Midlands Minor League Baseball Team) game
but apparantly they decided to play there game this Tuesday at 12pm!!!
I can't imagine them having a good turnout considering:
a) it's April
b) school is in session
c) people work but whatever
So we were forced to think outside the box
and this is what BEG came up with.................

We really did have so much fun! (notice BEG's face)

I got 2 hole in ones!!!
(should have been 4 but the stupid ball kept bouncing out of the hole)

We finally got to leave after 36 holes.
Blake refused to give up until he made his own hole in one (on hole 34)!!!!
Just kidding.
He assured me that he wasn't making me stay until he got his hole in one,
he was making me stay so that we would get our $14 worth of Putt-Putt.
Which by the way, when did that get to be so dang expensive!?!?!??

Hope everyone is having a GREAT week!

Murphy Thomas Cook

I spent this past weekend in Tupelo, Mississippi meeting my new (and only) nephew.

Meet Murphy!
We had so much fun laying on the floor
and being lazy
and swinging
And teaching him rule #1 of being a "Murphy", attending social functions!!
Rebeccca and Tom's friend was having a crawfish boil to celebrate her birthday,
so we found his most appropriate outfit for the occasion and off we went.
So cute!!

Then on Sunday the Leach's came over from Starkville
(they are at that Clark's till Wednesday celebrating Meredith's 30th and other exciting news)
We had such a wonderful visit with them
We learned that the Wild Bunch will expand by 1 more this fall!!!!
We are so excited for Meredith and Cameron
and can not wait to meet their little one in November.

At the rate we are going,
the Wild Bunch is going to outgrow the Holiday Inn Express
in just a few more years =)

Happy Monday.

Baking, baking and more baking

I got bitten by the "domestic" bug last weekend and just went crazy in the kitchen. Our friends and neighbors just had a baby so I made them chicken spagetti and some homemade chocolate chip cookies. And while I was at it, I decided to give homemade cinnamon rolls a try!!

It was very time extensive but thanks to my sweet husband, it was a GREAT success!

Making the dough:
Mid way through rolling the dough:
All rolled up and ready to bake:
I put too many in the pan
(but it looked pretty before it continued to rise)!
The dishwasher:

The turned out tasting very yummy but I put way too many in each pan so it was a little crowded! The recipe called for 7 pans and I crammed them into 5, so note to self when all else fails follow the instructions!!!

Progress

george henry is warming up to the idea of the dog door. The first few days he would only go through it if we held the flap up for him (which obviously defeats the entire purpose of putting it in)! Finally I decided after I helped him outside, that we should no longer help him and he would eventually either go through it or he wouldn't. In this particular case, he would have been stuck outside had he not come in on his own. Well, he was furious that I hadn't come to help him (he normally sits at the flap so we can see him and he can see us, paws at the flap and meows continuously) but he now goes through the door unassisted whenever he wants!!!

RHETT of course thinks this is about as cool as walks and dog biscuits so everyone in our house is pleased with last weekends project!

Easy Access

george henry and RHETT can never seem to make their mind up
about whether they would like to be inside or outside
so we solved their dilemma for them!

After:
These are the BEST inventions ever!
If you don't have one, go get one now.

Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend.
