Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 37 Weeks

Size of baby: Watermelon

(20 inches and 6 pounds 11 ounces)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 40 pounds

Maternity Clothes: All maternity except the occasional stretchy (ie elastic) regular pants

Gender: Will know July 2013

Movement: Slowing down a little bit but only because it is officially out of room!!   

Sleep: It’s becoming harder to fall asleep. My back aches and I can’t get comfortable.  Once asleep though I sleep well.

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach, being able to bend over and do easy things without having a belly in the way and being able to see my feet!

Cravings: not hungry anymore 

Symptoms: Getting VERY uncomfortable and the heat is not helping!    

Best Moment this month:  Had a growth ultrasound yesterday!  Baby looks good and is measuring 6lbs 11oz. We couldn’t see it’s sweet face though because it is squished in there so that was kind of disappointing. But in less than 3 weeks I’ll get to look at its sweet face all day long!!!!

Lubbock Baby Shower

My sweet Lubbock friends 

hosted a baby shower for baby garrett on Saturday 

and it was so sweet and fun! 

A HUGE thank you to Vicki 

for hosting it in your beautiful home!

(Holli, Holly, Ashley, Brittney, Leigh Ann, Andrea and Kristen were not able to make it
but a BIG thanks to you all). 

The food was yummy,

I've missed all these girls so much 

while I've been gone over the last month, 

it was so nice to finally be able to sit down and catch up!

How Far Along: 36 Weeks

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 40 pounds

Maternity Clothes: All maternity except the occasional stretchy (ie elastic) regular pants

Gender: Will know July 2013

Movement: Super duper busy! 

Sleep: I sleep really good from about 10:30pm till around 5am when I have to go to the bathroom. After that I can not seem to get comfortable enough to fall back to sleep.  

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach, being able to bend over and do easy things without having a belly in the way and being able to see my feet!

Cravings: sugar and chocolate 

Symptoms: Getting VERY uncomfortable and the heat is not helping!    

Best Moment this month:  Went to the doctor this afternoon. Am 2cm dilated and 80% effaced!

Abilene Baby Shower

The food was so yummy. 

They had a breakfast casserole, 

bread pudding, 

cinnamon biscuits and 

delicious fruit! 

They had a cute game where I answered all these 

old wives tales and they put a sticky on either the girl or boy side. 

According to the game, 

Baby Garrett is a BOY! 

And then they asked everyone to help name the baby, ha!

Everything was so much fun
but it was so surreal going to my own baby shower!

I can't believe Blake and I will be parents in less than a month!!! 

Summer Internship 2013

I was SO sad to return from the beach for many reasons

but the main one being it meant Blake was leaving for The Woodlands. 

He is doing his 2nd internship with Anadarko 

and this year they have him in The Woodlands. 

We flew back in Saturday, May 25th from the beach, 

spent all day Sunday washing and packing 

and Blake and george henry headed out Monday mid-morning. 

I was SO incredibly sad to see them go.....

However, 

I decided to head to Shreveport for a few weeks 

so I could work from that office, 

see friends and family I hadn't seen in awhile, 

eat at some of my favorite restaurants and try some new ones

but mainly to see Blake for the 2 weekends I was there! 

My doctor okayed the trip on the condition 

that I was back in Lubbock by 36 weeks! 

It worked out perfectly 

as I had a baby shower in Abilene June 15. 

The first weekend there, 

I drove down to The Woodlands to hangout with Blake and george henry 

We had a great weekend eating at some local joints

and driving around looking at different neighborhoods, etc

and trying to get a lay of the land 

(which is very hard considering all the trees!) 

Blake took me to "The Tower" to show me where he was working

and we hung out with his house mother, Cherie. 

It was a wonderful weekend. 

The next weekend, 

Blake and gh came to me and the dogs! 

Everyone was ecstatic to see them. 

We met up at the camp so that the pups could run and play in the water

and it was a HUGE hit; 

they absolutely loved it! 

Saturday morning, 

we headed back in to Shreveport. 

We lunched at Superior, 

saw Mimi, M and Monnie, 

drove around and 

attended a friend's birthday get together.  

We called it an early evening 

and rented SafeHaven. 

We got up Sunday morning 

and headed to Broadmoor Methodist to see Matt Rawle

once more before he heads to pastor a new church in South LA. 

It was prefect timing we were there 

as his last weekend is June 23. 

We then met Millie and Dad 

at a party announcing Larry Allen 

as King of Washington Mardi Gras 2014!

It was then time for Blake to go 

and I was devastated! 

He left george henry with me to go back to Lubbock

and he got on the road. 

It was so hard because I won't see him again until June 27!

We have NEVER gone that long apart 

and don't plan too ever again!

I headed out with my folks last Friday headed west. 

Momma rode with me, RHETT, george henry, Boone and Crockett

and daddy followed. 

I had a baby shower in Abilene and it was wonderful!

We got so much loot for baby garrett 

but more on that later. 

My 2.5 weeks away was a nice getaway and distraction from Blake being gone

but it is fantastic to be home after being gone nearly 1 month!!! 

I miss Blake so much 

and "home" definitely isn't the same without him 

but we are so thankful for the opportunity he has been given for the future of our family! 

I know we will look back on this time years from now

and not even barely remember how hard it was.
