(6.5-7 inches long, 10 ounces)

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach, the occasional drink and sushi this week!

Cravings: Chocolate and anything sweet

Symptoms: my stomach is getting large and in the way, ha!

Best Moment this week: We get to see our precious baby on Wednesday, Blake’s birthday! I can’t think of a more wonderful birthday present for us both than that!! We cannot wait to meet it and kiss it’s sweet face!!!

Much Needed Lazy Weekend

A few weekends ago
we had a wonderful, relaxing weekend at home.

It was glorious.

TGIF
Saturday morning I woke up wanting french toast so....

Saturday night the weather was perfect with NO wind
so we decided to build a fire in our fire pit!

And you can't have a fire without roasting marshmallows!

Neighborhood watch

Super Bowl Sunday we were still in relax mode
so we stayed home and made delicious poppers.

Looking forward to many more relaxing weekends
with my boys!!

George Strait - The Cowboy Rides Away

Blake and I gave his parents (and ourselves)
tickets to George Strait's 1st concert on his last tour -
The Cowboy Rides Away-
in Lubbock.

Martina McBride opened for him
and she was unbelievable!
For as small as she is,
she has got some pipes.

On our way to see King George play
Martina sang for about an hour
and then after a 30 minute break George came on
for a record 2 hours and 15 minutes!

He sang some oldies and some newbies
and was SO MUCH fun!

I am so glad we went
and were able to get tickets for Blake's folks as well,
as I know they had fun too.

I'm sad that George is "retiring"
but am so glad it worked out that we could hear him live
one last time!

Nursery - A Work In Progress

So we've been working on some random
odd and end things for the nursery.

All of the things we either previously owned
or were used in my room when I was growing up.

First up,
an estate sale lamp I've had since college.

I painted the wood white
and recovered the old fabric with a new, trendy look.

Then I covered the lampshade
and put the same trim on the shade as what's on the drapes.

I did not like the classic look and trendy look together,
so I re-covered the base in the nursery rhyme fabric as well.
Picture below.

These 2 pieces were once pillows
that Mimi graciously gave to me when she was moving.
I cut them out and framed them.
I LOVED the way they turned out!

Finished area

The below nook was in my room growing up.
All it needed was some fresh white paint, a new battery for the clock
and a homemade book shelf from the dad-to-be!

Milly bought and sent us this sweet bassinet

I can't find an adequate picture
but the curtains that were in the guest room before were fine
but weren't going to cut it in the nursery.
So we headed out to find some plain and simple white ones.
Bed, Beth and Beyond $30 each
I then had Milly hunt me down some trim
that blended with my fabric and attached it to the inside of the curtains.
40% off at Fabulous Fabrics!
It still looked a little drab
so I made, yes, I made
a valance.
Looks so much better!
And again...
hard to see with the daylight coming in

 This is all for now...

Austin - Baby Kate's Baptism

We headed down to the Austin area last weekend
for one of my best friends, Virginia's daughters baptism.

We left Thursday early afternoon
and went straight to the Gristmill to meet
Lauren/Patrick and Alice/boyfriend.
Lauren, me, Alice
We had such a fun night catching up
and of course the food NEVER disappoints, either.
Unbelievable onion rings
We got to Virginia's late Thursday night
and In stayed up "gossiping" with Virginia, her sweet Momma and Mer.

Our wake up call every morning, Oscar!
 My precious godchild, Kate

Friday afternoon,
we headed out to former Shreveporter
Sarah Haynie's new restaurant.
Delicious!
 We ate in Friday night
and really enjoyed the low key night visiting with great friends.

Sweet Oscar was so exhausted from all the activity...

We woke up Saturday morning
and went and met up with some other friends.

I dropped Blake off to meet up with his Abilene friend, Andrew Andress
and I went to meet up with my old college roommate, Whitney Cross.
It was great to see and catch up with them both,
however we of course did not take a picture with either =(

We got back late Saturday afternoon
to these precious 2...
Kate
Marion Cass
Virginia and Keith ordered Mexican food that we picked up
and ate at home Saturday night.

We started preparing the flowers, food, etc
for the party the next day
and stayed up entirely too late chatting
but it was SO worth it.

Sunday,
we got up and headed to church for the big moment!
I, of course, took NO photos on Sunday
but Mrs. K did,
so I'll have to snag one from her one day.

It was a great, much needed weekend with a dear friend
and her sweet family that I do not get to see often enough!
