Red Fleet

This past Sunday
we headed out to Red Fleet
to do some cliff jumping or rock jumping
into the river.
Ready
Set
Go
We had a great afternoon
and just enjoyed being outside.

Since there are so many rivers
from the mountain run-offs
there are NO pools intown;
very strange.

The water is freezing
but it kind of feels nice in the heat of the day.

Happy jumping!

Boone and Crockett

As most of you already know,
we decided that we needed more animals in our family!

The first day of work,
I met a man who had just had an unplanned litter
of German Short Hair/Brittany Pointer puppies.

He was giving them away,
for free!

Blake has always wanted a GSP
but I refuse to pay for a dog
when their are so many who need good homes.

I mentioned it to Blake
and we went to see them that weekend.

We feel in love with these 2 guys
and were having a hard time deciding between the 2.

Boone (left) Crockett (right)
6 weeks old
After much debate,
I let Blake choose which pup he wanted and he chose Boone,
mainly because of his markings.

A week later while on a walk
he randomly said
"what do you think about getting both?"

I couldn't believe it
because I had been thinking the exact same thing
but didn't want to be the crazy one to say it out loud, ha!

So we texted Dale
letting him know we would take both!

We would go play with them every evening after work
to get them use to us and to let RHETT feel them out
before we brought them "home".

RHETT is not too sure about them at all at this point

Week 8 and worn out!
Boone (back) Crockett (front)
RHETT is doing so well with them
and will actually get up and play every now and then!

We are loving having them around
and the spunk they bring to RHETT!

They are growing like weeds
but thankfully they won't be too big
(compared to RHETT at least).

Crockett is very independent.
He plays by himself, naps often
and doesn't require much attention.
He is significantly larger than Boone
and has Brittany coloring on his face.

Crockett - 9 weeks
Boone is our sissy dog.
He constantly whins for no reason.
He was the runt
and is going to be a hand full.
He is super dramatic,
gets his feelings hurt easily
and is scared of everything.

Boone - 9 weeks
RHETT is such a good big brother
(george will be another story, I'm sure)!

Here is a short glimpse into our evening strolls now,
no longer leisurely, ha!

White Water Rafting

The only thing I wanted to do this summer
was to go white water rafting.

Well today was the day!!

We went with a well known outfitter in town
and chose the Split Mountain course.

We had 8 rapids throughout
but do to low water,
they weren't as large as they normally are unfortunately.

We stopped on the way to the mountain to check out
some old Indian petroglyphs.
 Didn't do much for us,
but others found it interesting!

About to hit the water....

We stopped at a little beach for lunch
and Blake decided to wade out in the water;
it was way too cold for me!

Resting on the beach for lunch

the view throughout our trip

All done and on the way home!
I had forgotten how much of a workout rafting is
but we had a great day
and really enjoyed ourselves!

We are looking forward to finding a Colorado trip
later in the summer.

Fly Fishing

We headed to Flaming Gorge National Park
to do some fly fishing last weekend.

It was a beautiful day
and we enjoyed being outdoorsy.

We had absolutely NO idea what we were doing
but we stopped at a fly fishing store in the mountain
and through his laughs
he managed to give us the specifics we needed to know.

Surprisingly we caught nothing, ha
but had fun none the less!

My boys baiting the hook

Casting his rod

Relaxing
We hope to head back in a few weeks
and maybe catch something,
but we are NOT holding our breath.

Salt Lake City, Utah

This weekend we ventured to the big city,
Salt Lake City.

Vernal has 10,000 people,
a WalMart and a Smiths/Kroger
so if you want anything those 2 stores don't offer
you're s-o-l.

First stop upon our arrival.....
Blake had a buy one get one free entree coupon
so we figured why not get a free meal!

Next stop,

It was a very beautiful "campus" if you will.

We saw approximately 13 weddings while we were there
for a brief 30 minutes.

After the LDS,
we made one last stop here

to prepare for these guys......
Boone (left) Crockett (right)
 more on them later.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Rock Springs, Wyoming

The pumper, Ronnie,
that Blake will ride around with the 1st month
until he becomes a certified operator
told him that Rock Springs, WY
had great antique stores.

So without doing much investigating
we loaded up this morning for the 2 hour drive to Rock Springs.

On the way there
we passed the Flaming Gorge Dam.

Sadly it was closed
but we are hoping it will be open at one point this summer
so we can see it.
It looks like it would be pretty impressive!

We arrived in Rock Springs
only to realize that Ronnie's idea of antiques
and our idea of antiques was
COMPLETELY
different.

We stopped off in a random Mexican restaurant
just to stretch our legs before heading home.
We were literally only in the town for 45 minutes, tops!

Complete waste of a day
but oh well.
Thankfully the views on the drive were pretty.

But unfortunately we learned RHETT gets motion sick!

Until our next adventure!!

Vernal, Utah

Well folks,
we made it to our home away from home
for the summer.

Blake's internship with Anadarko Petroleum
has brought us to Vernal, Utah
and the kind people at the company
felt so bad that he was leaving my behind
they offered me a position in their Midstream office
for the summer so .......

population 10,000
this is the view all the way around the town
Vernal is 16.5 hours from Lubbock
so we broke our trip up in Denver.

And we couldn't stop in Denver without visiting with a few
of our favorite people!!

We got there Friday evening
and met up with Ginger and Josh.
Ginger is Blake's cousin
and Josh is her boyfriend.
We had SO much fun visiting and catching up with them.

Ginger, Blake, me
Saturday found us at Wash Park,
along with the rest of Denver,
for games and bbq.
RHETT enjoyed him self
and we all loved having a break from the car!

Saturday night we headed to 16th Street Mall
and Larimer Square to walk around
and to get Lobster Mac n' Cheese from Capital Grille
(which made Blake so ill he fainted but that's a story for another day!)
My 2 favorite boys...missing sweet george henry
Saturday night,
we drove out to Littleton to stay with the Dixon's.
It was so good to see them and visit
and to meet their sweet Ava.
When we pass back through in August on our way home
they will have an addition,
Lucy!!
Brent, Ava, Renee, me and Blake
From Denver to Vernal,
we didn't pass much
but after looking at the atlas
I noticed that we were only 40 minutes one way from Aspen.

I really want to go to Aspen to ski one year
but wanted to make sure the mountains were good
and not just a star stalker attraction
since we were so close!

We really enjoyed the town
and will definitely plan a ski trip there in the future.

We arrived in Vernal Sunday around 8pm.
We spent all day Monday
(Memorial Day)
to get situated, find the office, resting, etc.

We have both enjoyed our 1st week on the job.
The people are SO nice and
we are both learning so much already.

If anyone is close by come and see us!!!

Farewell

Before we headed to Vernal for the summer,
but after our quick trip to the DFW area,
we had a get together with our Lubbock friends
at the recently opened Blue Mesa Grill.

It was such a great night to sit out on the patio
with dear friends.

Shawna, me, Brittney, Ashley and Holli
Emily, Vicki, Lindsey, Hilary and me
Blake, Matthew, Ryan, Jake, Kurt, Joe and Paul (Marc had already left)
We so appreciate everyone coming to see us off.
We are so blessed to have made such wonderful friends in the last year
and we look forward to many more fun nights together when we return!

The hardest goodbye was to this little guy:

Broke my heart to leave him behind
but the couple we are living with said no cats.
It ended up working out well
because they have 2 dogs,
1 of which is ridicuoulsy obnoxious,
and georgie would have been miserable!
Poor RHETT's already about had enough
and it's only been 6 days.....

But we left george in wonderful hands;
at Camp Garrett
aka: with the in-laws in Abilene.
