SPE Golf Tournament

So Blake played on the Anadarko team for the
SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers)
Golf Tournament in Midland.

These boys were a riot on the course
and although they didn't win their flight,
they without a doubt had more fun than anybody else there,
which is what life is all about anyway, right?!

Marco, and the team Eric, Ben, Dan and Blake

Dan's Winnie the Pooh ball he insisted I photograph

A typical hole for these boys

Eric checking Ben's form and
Dan supervising

He didn't really hit the ball
but they just thought this was a great photo!

Team Anadarko
 These boys celebrated EVERYTHING yesterday;
drives into the woods,
whiffed balls,
divots in the ground,
missed putts,
I mean everything.

Here they are celebrating no telling what........

They ended up finishing 4 under
which wasn't bad considering
Eric spent more time playing baseball with his driver and ball,
Blake broke his driver,
Ben and Dan decided they would take up croquet on the tee boxes.

I am telling y'all they were a riot
but some days you just need to twist off with friends!

Sweet Blake did not go home empty handed,
as he was awarded the
Most Outstanding SPE Student Member at Texas Tech
at the tournament.

They gave him a beautiful mahogany clock
that he can put on his desk for years to come.

He is very proud of it,
as he should be!

We are planning to spend this weekend relaxing
and hanging around the house.

Next week is the final week of school before finals begin......

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Bible in a Year

Blake and I challenged each other last April 16
to reading the complete Bible,
cover to cover,
in 1 year.

Well folks on April 16, 2012
we reached our goal.

It was so much fun
and extremely interesting.

For those of you who have never read the entire Bible,
you should add it to your bucket list immediately.

I obviously grew up reading the Bible
but I am pretty certain there are many verses that get skipped over.

Now I'm not going to lie and say that the entire read
was fabulous and not boring
because there were definitely some chapters that were uneventful.

However,
they still have significance and need to be read,
at least once.

As a remembrance of our fun challenge
my sweet husband got me my very own Bible with my new name!!

What a wonderful reminder this present will be always.

Weekend Recap

This past weekend I headed home to Shreveport for a friend's wedding.
It was so much fun to see everyone and catch up
and just nice to be home!

Rebecca and Murphy came over from Tupelo
and many high school friends came in from all over
so it was great to catch up and see everybody.

Sweet little Murphy
has gotten so big and is so much fun!

I crammed a lot of stuff into 1 trip
but living so far away I don't get back near enough!

We started the weekend off with the Catholic wedding Friday night at St. Johns
followed by a beautiful reception at the Barnwell Center.

The weather did not cooperate at all
but thank goodness for tents!!

The flowers were breath taking,
the food delicious,
the bride stunning!

On Saturday,
we headed over to East Ridge Country Club
for the Hindu wedding which began at 4pm.

the actual ceremony
It was extremely beautiful and very interesting!
Elizabeth, again, looked stunning
and the bridesmaid dresses/sarees were gorgeous.
It was so much fun to see old friends
and experience such a neat and old ceremony!

Virginia was in town for the wedding
and brought her 2 little girls with her
one of which was born in February and I haven't ever met
and the other who turned 2 on Sunday!
 They are dolls!

Sweet Marion Cass (2 years old)

Baby Kate (2 months old)

Sunday afternoon the family headed out to Barksdale for the airshow.
It was a beautiful day and so much fun taking Murphy.
Oh to view things from the perspective of a child!
He thought the planes were the coolest thing.

Watching the airplanes with Aunt Kitty
Since crawfish aren't really an option in West Texas
we headed to Shane's for supper Sunday evening.
Delicious

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at home.
However, I am very glad to be back in my own bed
and with my sweet little family.

Until next time Shreveport....

Bella

This is Bella,
my parents sweet little kitty.
Poor little Bella was hit by a car on Saturday.
Luckily she survived
but not without some harm :(

Gilbo found her Sunday morning
bleeding and scared in my old bedroom.
He yelled for Milly to come and see.
They immediately loaded her up
and headed to the emergency clinic.
They kept her overnight until my parents vet
opened on Monday morning.

During her brief stay at the emergency clinic
she underwent some surgery to help
attach her mouth back.
Bless her heart,
the jaw skin became "unattached" from the jaw
so they had to do a surgery
and everyone is praying that the skin takes.
If it does not they will have to do a graft.

She can not go home until she begins to eat
but with the mouth injury she isn't interested
(can you blame her!!)
So she is still hooked up to an IV
until she eats something.

They then realized that her right front paw is numb,
nerve damage.
They gave her a cortisone shot
but are not optimistic about the nerve healing itself.

On Monday morning,
Doctor Dave confirmed what everyone thought,
sweet Bella was hit by a car.

Unfortunately,
he agrees that he does not believe that the nerve will heal itself in the shoulder
meaning Bella the 4 legged cat
will soon be Bella the 3 legged cat,
or "the tripod".

They say animals adapt well to amputations
but soon Gilbo and Milly will be able to confirm that.

My poor parents,
didn't even ask for this cat.
She found them
and she is now depending on them
and is so thankful for them more than ever.

Most would give up on her
but not the Murphy's.
We will try and save any animal.

Please be careful while driving.
I am hopeful that whoever hit Bella
did it accidentally and didn't realize they had hit something
or else they would have stopped.
